Once a thought
Idly floating by
beckoned my mind
It fussed around the insides
It made me pull my hair
I thought
Why not give it a chance
And let it run its race
It danced in my gaze
I saw it swirl,
Froth and curl
Like a surreal spell.
Where there was nothing
Now grew a new storm
I felt it ripple through me
My being did protect
I wanted to shut it out
I wanted to cry out loud
and then
I was afraid no more...
What did change that day
I could not tell.
The thought itself
Had become I.
I was it, it was I.
And I now knew
where my path did lie.
Walking through life
Someday all of us
come to this turn.
There comes to us a thought
--a butterfly in the wild.
She dances merrily in the wind
Twirling with our imagination
Right in front of our deepest fears
Let her fly high
far and wide
Let her paint new colors
Sow dreams
Reap ideas.
She is our hearts' muse
The brave follow her scent
And she follows the brave
Whatever we might do
Wherever we might be
We can always go back to her
And dance with her
in the sunshine of life.
